Black Bottom

Recipe 7 :Black Bottom

Im soo busy these few weeks...frantically looking for a job...that I havent got time to bake anything
anyway..managed to try out the black bottom recipe this week...

It taste nice but the cake is too dense for me...it has somesort of a bread-like texture....
as the recipe doesnt require any butter.... or eggss....

Verdict : 6/10
Again too too dense...and I am not really sure if the cheese bit within the cupcake(not the icing)
is supposed to be runny or cake like mixture...anyway the texture is too dense ....can only eat one at a time :( again the icing saved it from being too dry and dense...

I hope i will have the time to bake somemore this week....Im really craving for a charlotte framboise....which im gonna try and make...:P

My Banana Loaff~

well made banana loaf this weekend and after the disastrous attempt from the book...im sticking to my own recipe and will share it with all of you!

Ingredients:
150g of butter (you can replace with veg oil if you want)
2/3 cups of sugar
1 1/4 cups of self raising flour
3 eggs
pinch of baking powder/bicarbonate soda
2-3 super ripe bananas

mix the butter with sugar, then the eggss...whisk until fluffy
add half the flour, then the mashed bananas
add the rest of the flour and a pinch of baking powder....
bake at 180 for 40-45min

I you want...add cinnamon and nutmeg...in it as well..
and replace caster sugar with brown sugar...or muscavado sugar..

dont overmix the flour..it wouldnt rise as much
well what i do is i use an electric whisk for the butter eggs nd sugar..
then i juz use a spoon to fold in the flour

it will come out nice and fluffy....better than the other recipe :P

there you go JACKIE

NY cheesecake

Recipe 6 : NY Cheesecake

OK....sorryy i havent been blogging for awhile i..i have been too lazy to upload pictures to my com for this blog...but I have been making desserts regularly tho :)
anyway, this is my attempt at the NY cheesecake recipe from hummingbird

This was really good i have to say especially the cheesebit... however, the cheesecake base didnt come out as nice as i hoped for...its prob due to the fact that i used a pop-out round cake tin..and the recipe required you to put the cake tin in a deep roasting dish and fill it 2/3 with water...
somehow the water seeped through i think....in the end the base was soggy :(

My Verdict : 7/10
The cheeseake is delicious!!! its sooo creamyy and nice...It would have been 10 if the base wasnt soggy....but i guess it was my equipment's fault...oh well

til next time...mmmmMMMMmmmmm aaahhhhhHHHHH

Anyway...i thought ill stop making cupcakes for awhile...and flipped to the back of the book and made brownies instead! hehe ;)

My Verdict : 7/10
The recipe is easy....it came out nice.... chewieee...gets stuck on my teeth...
however..its nothing fantastic....its a regular brownie...

Strawberry Cheesecake Cupcake~

Recipe 3 : Strawberry Cheesecake Cupcake

By now ive probably made about 50 cupcakes... and every1 in my house is so sick of them..
anyway..heres the third recipe~

dusted with crushed hobnobs...
A bit of product photography below

voila!!!~~ food porn!
the cake bit is just a regular vanila sponge with some bits of strawberry...

My verdict : 7/10
I think itll be niceer if it was more strawberry cheesecake-ish as the name suggests...
by making a light cheese flavoured sponge and a strawberry frosting with a layer of biscuit sandwiched in between?
or perhaps a more strawberry flavoured sponge??
nevetheless the recipe was good...and tasty as usual...
(for those trying this recipe put 2/3 chunks of strawberry instead of a lot as it will overmoist the cupcake and the shape wont maintain)

happy nottinghill carnival everyone!!

til next time....mmmMMMMmmmm aaAAAhhHH

Red Velvet mmMMMMmmmm

Recipe II : Red Velvet Cupcake
Yes!!! the sweet smell of success in the form of Red Velvet.....
made another batch after yesterday's tragedy ..and its looking oh so scarlet!

I bought a different food colouring this time...despite the recipe recommending dr oetker...i settled for waitrose's scarlet colouring...

and the cream cheese frosting...superb......i reckon it failed yesterday due to overbeating... this time it was perfect...

Verdict : 9/10 this cupcake recipe is fantastic! it was so good that i even forgotten i had a headache for that short moment eating it ...lol

(sam! this is sooo goooddd muuuaahahahhaa)

til next time...mmmMMMMmmmmmMMM aaaaAAhhhh
